Η 77η τελετή των ΕΜΜΥ έμοιασε και πάλι σαν ένα χρυσό κουτί που άνοιξε και γέμισε τον κόσμο φώτα, ονόματα και χαμόγελα. Η Apple TV+ σήκωσε το βράδυ ψηλά, με το The Studio να γράφει ιστορία. Δεκατρία βραβεία. Ένα νούμερο που ξεπερνάει τη στατιστική· μια σφραγίδα ότι το χιούμορ μπορεί ακόμη να αλλάζει τον κόσμο. Ο Σεθ Ρόγκεν, ανάμεσα σε χειροκροτήματα, έμοιαζε να επιβεβαιώνει ότι το αστείο είναι σοβαρή υπόθεση.
Δίπλα, ο Στίβεν Γκρέιχαμ με το Adolescence. Ο ηθοποιός που δεν παίζει, αλλά ζει τους ρόλους του. Οκτώ βραβεία· μια μίνι σειρά που έδειξε πως η ενηλικίωση είναι πάντα μια πληγή. Το The Penguin έμεινε μισό, με τον Κόλιν Φάρελ να χάνει· η Κρίστιν Μιλιότι να λάμπει. Το The Pitt με τις επίκαιρες ιατρικές του ιστορίες να φέρνει την ανατροπή, ο Νόα Γουάιλ να ξαναγεννιέται. To Severance με το μεγαλύτερο buzz της χρονιάς, να αναρωτιέται πως τα χάνει – σχεδόν όλα. O Κολμπέρ να κρατάει στα χέρια του το πρώτο του τρόπαιο λίγο πριν το τέλος. Το Andor να λάμπει δια της απουσίας του.
Κι ανάμεσα σε όλα, ένα κοινό που γέλασε, δάκρυσε, απογοητεύτηκε. Όπως σταθερά κάθε χρονιά κάνει. Αφού κάθε θρίαμβος είναι και μια σιωπή. Το White Lotus με τα δέκα άδεια χαρτιά του το ξέρει καλά. Ο κωμικός Νέιτ Μπαργκάτσε στην παρουσίαση της βραδιάς στάθηκε συμπαθητικά. Δεν θα τον θυμηθούμε αργότερα. Και αυτο καμιά φορά είναι και για καλό.
