Τουρκικό δικαστήριο καταδίκασε σήμερα σε ισόβια κάθειρξη τρεις εξέχοντες δημοσιογράφους με την κατηγορία ότι συνέδραμαν το δίκτυο το οποίο, σύμφωνα με τις τουρκικές αρχές, ενορχήστρωσε το αποτυχημένο πραξικόπημα του 2016, μετέδωσε το τηλεοπτικό δίκτυο TRT Ηaber, παρά το ότι το Ανώτατο Δικαστήριο της Τουρκίας είχε διατάξει την απελευθέρωση ενός από αυτούς.
Ο Μεχμέτ Αλτάν, καθηγητής Οικονομικών και δημοσιογράφος, και ο δημοσιογράφος αδελφός του Άχμετ, κατηγορήθηκαν ότι έδωσαν «κωδικοποιημένα» μηνύματα στη διάρκεια ενός τηλεοπτικού τοκ σόου μία ημέρα πριν από την απόπειρα στρατιωτικού πραξικοπήματος της 15ης Ιουλίου. Η Ναζλί Ιλιτσάκ, άλλη μία εξέχουσα δημοσιογράφος, καταδικάστηκε επίσης σε ισόβια κάθειρξη.
